“If you see a tree as blue, then make it blue”
                                             - Paul Gauguin

The color of ocean and sky, blue is often perceived as a constant in our lives. It is frequently seen as trustworthy and dependable, while at the same time, some feel the overuse of blue can be cold, uncaring or melancholy. That said, this pliable color can take a different turn and become a dynamic expression of exhilaration when sparks of electric blues make their mark.

Out of the Blue, on display from July 2 - July 25, 2008, pays tribute to the Attleboro Arts Museum 85th anniversary. The Museum's vivid blue identity and trademark – designed to represent energy, opportunity and commitment – serves as the impetus behind this national, juried exhibition. Juror Jennifer Wood-Patrick has selected artwork in a variety of mediums and concepts from a strong pool of national artists.

The Attleboro Arts Museum is pleased to present preeminent blues musicians Andy Solberg (guitar) and Jimmy “Killer” Kane (harmonica) at the “Out of the Blue” Opening Reception. Andy and Killer have recorded together four times, and played together in numerous shows. The Museum is honored to have these “true blue” artists wrap their music around this “out of the blue” evening.

Andy Solberg
For 30-some years, Andy Solberg has been lighting up listening rooms in the Boston-to-Cape Cod area with his guitar virtuosity. Master of blues, jazz, country, Brazilian, pop and classical, Andy has been referred to as “one of the region's best kept secrets.” www.andysolberg.com

James “Killer” Kane
Killer is the founding father of the “Blue FO's.” He attributes his blues influences to Paul Butterfield, Little Walter, and The Allman Brothers. He has been known to “add just the right blues harp flavorings to blow the house down ... Killer is a textbook example of not playing all the notes you can, but only those you need to say something.” www.bluefos.com
